It is used to treat inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), including ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease. Vedolizumab is a targeted therapy that was designed to be a gut-selective immunotherapy. Other immunosuppressive drugs used for IBD affect the whole body. Vedolizumab belongs to a class of drugs called integrin receptor antagonist.
